Ellen Rose

My name is Ellen Rose. I’m 35 years old and live in Washington, DC. I work in broadcast and digital production for a news network and am completely obsessed with avocados and guacamole. I started to think about egg freezing in January 2018, but wasn’t completely ready. I sat on the ideas for over a year and in June 2019, I took action and called my employee benefits contact to register and get the process started again.

I had my first consultation on July 5th, 2019 and started taking injections on August 29, 2019. I did 10 days of injections and 10 eggs were retrieved on September 9, 2019. Of the 10, 8 mature eggs were frozen and I was thrilled. My doctor originally predicted I would get just 7 or 8 retrieved. The whole experience was incredibly empowering and I feel so lucky that I had amazing work benefits that covered most of the procedure and medicine. I would encourage any woman who wants a family to consider egg freezing. And if you have a work benefit? Complete no-brainer! I have a second-round covered and am considering doing it in December 2019.

“Egg freezing is an amazing opportunity. It is so cool that we have the option to freeze our eggs to use later. I was empowered by taking control of my body.” –Ellen Rose
